Terms and conditions

It is important that you read and accept the IELTS test terms and conditions when you register for the test.

You also receive the terms and conditions in the Notice to Candidates, which is included with the application form.

The terms and conditions contain important information, including details of:

  • Test day arrangements
  • What you can take into the test room
  • The rules you need to follow
  • Test security
  • What you can expect from the results process
  • Cancellations process
  • How we use your information

When you sign the declaration in the application form you are confirming that you have read and understood the IELTS test terms and conditions and agree to abide by them.

PLEASE NOTE:

Security at IELTS tests is important to us. As an added measure, all participants will be required to have their photograph taken by IELTS administrative staff on their test day. Please make sure that you review the photograph instructions supplied to you after you have booked your test.

Test date transfer

Candidates may transfer their test dates but the request must be made at least 5 weeks before the scheduled test date. To do this candidates must contact us.

An administrative fee of MMK 65,000 will be charged for test date transfers. Candidates may transfer their test dates once only.

Cancellation and refund

Candidates who decide to cancel their registration more than 5 weeks before the scheduled test date will receive a refund of MMK 195,000. Candidates will be asked to return their original receipt and fill in a request for refund form at a British Council examination centre.

Candidates who decide to cancel their registration within the 5 week perfio prior to the test date will not receive any refund unless they can prove to the centre that their ability to sit the test has been affected by an illness or serious cause. Serious causes includes:

  • Hospitalisation or serious injury. It does not include minor illnesses such as a mild cold or cough.
  • Loss of a direct family member
  • Hardship or trauma - victim of crime or traffic accident
  • National service

For refund requests within the 34-day period, please complete and submit a Request for Refund Form along with the supporting evidence. The deadline for your centre to receive your request and supporting evidence is five calendar days after the test date.

Enquiry on results

If you are not satisfied with or have a query about your test result, you may request for an enquiry on results.

Requests must be made within six weeks after results are released. You will be asked to fill in an enquiry on results form at a British Council examination centre and return your Test Report Form. The fee for an enquiry on results is GPB 60 payable in USD equivalent. This fee will be refunded if the results change. It normally takes six to eight weeks to have the papers remarked.
