How we work in the state sector

English Language Teaching (ELT) in Burma

Through collaboration between the British Council and the Ministry of Education, remarkable support has been provided for English Language Teaching (ELT) in Burma since 2012.

The support has been in the form of expatriate teachers/trainers working in government education institutions, materials and teaching aids distributed and consultancy services provided. Through those support programmes, we have built strong and trusting relations not just with the Ministry of Education but also with other ministries including the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Ministry of Cooperatives, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Border Affairs.

Our two annual British Council conferences for teachers of English in Rangoon and Mandalay supplement our support.
