Salary The salary for this enhanced pay band 5 teacher salary is £25,500 gross. The salary is pegged to pound sterling and will be transferred to your local bank account in Myanmar kyat.
Duration 12 months with possibilities for extension
Working hours 24 Contact Teaching Hours
Annual leave 40 days (whilst Burma remains an ECA category F country) and public holidays as determined by the British Council (approx. 14 days). Trainers will be required to take leave during education college holiday periods to fit with the needs of the project.

Role overview

The British Council is recruiting for teacher trainers for an exciting new DFID funded project working to improve the quality of teaching of teacher educators and teachers and academic oversight of management staff in Teacher Education Institutions and Department of Teacher Education and Training to achieve the impact of learning improvements of students in Myanmar especially for English language.

To be considered for this post you will need:

  • At least certificate level TEFL qualification and/or PGCE equivalent with ELT/TESOL specialization.
  • At least 4 years post-certificate/qualification i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL teaching and/or 3 years training experience of which 1500+ hours should have been gained from teaching English proficiency to adults 
  • Experience of teacher training in a state school, developing world context.
