Reading is necessary to develop skills, expand knowledge and stir the imagination. Children should be encouraged to read from an early age and availability of good books is very important. However it is not always possible to set up and run permanent libraries in several locations.

Our mobile library service helps to bridge the gap and serve that purpose. It has been part of our library’s outreach programme since 2009.

Through this facility we provide resources to 15 small libraries located in the satellite towns near Rangoon. It runs with the help of our library volunteers, teachers and librarians from the host libraries.

We visit every two weeks to change the books. Activities for young learners such as story reading, colouring and drawing are organised on the same day. The books are then left with the teachers and librarians, who take charge of lending services.
