Document Verification Service

Whether you are applying to an institution in the UK for further study, or preparing for a UK qualification locally or elsewhere in the region, you will need to submit proof of your academic qualifications.

One of the requirements from UK education institutions is the submission of verified academic certificates as an alternative to sending the original copies.

The British Council can provide you with the verification of these documents. To enable us to do this, you will need to bring your original certificates along with the notarial translation if your academic certificate is not in English.

We will produce a cover letter stating that we have seen the original copies of the academic documents and we will stamp the British Council seal on the photocopies of the documents, to certify them as true copies. British Council, however, will not be responsible for the authenticity of the certificate or qualification.

1. What do you need to bring?

  • Your Original Academic Certificate from your hosting institution
  • Official or notarial translation of your Academic Certificate into English, if your Academic certificate is not issued in English (or) Certified True Copy of your Academic Certificate
Note: You can get the notarial translation of your Academic Certificate at Authorised Notary Public Services.
  • National Identity Card (NRC) and a copy of it.

2. How long will it take?

In response to the current situation around Covid-19 in Myanmar and to ensure the safety of our customers and our staff, we are implementing several measures according to the guidelines to reduce the risk of infection. With these measures and guidance in place, the verification service will take approximately 7 working days.

3. What are the verification service hours?

We will be accepting submissions for this service through online booking requests emailed to Myanmar.Education@mm.britishcouncil.org. Upon receipt of the email booking request, we will provide you with an appointment date. On the appointment date, you will need to bring all the necessary documents and National Identity Card (NRC) for further processing.

4. How much does it cost?

A service fee of MMK 25,000 per document will be charged. The payment can be made via bank transfer, mobile banking or internet banking (AYA bank).
