Role overview
ABOUT THE BUPE TREE PROJECT
The Burma UK Partnership for Education (BUPE) is a £24 million DFID funded programme expected to run for five years with a possible extension for a further two years. TREE (Towards Results in Education and English) is one strand of the BUPE programme, running alongside assessment reform and an evaluation strand.
TREE is an ambitious programme working with teacher educators at the 25 education colleges across Burma to improve the English proficiency of teacher educators (TEs), help the TEs implement a curriculum to train new teachers, reform teaching practice, support TEs to get more involved in research and support inclusion of disabled children in education in Burma. It is expected that the project will use ICT and technical solutions to achieve many of these goals.
The TREE programme will build on the highly successful English for Education College Trainers (EfECT) Project, delivered by British Council Burma and funded by DFID and the British Council. TREE provides an opportunity to be involved in an inspiring programme which promises to work with the Myanmar people to achieve real excellence in teacher education.
