British Council library in Yangon invites children aged between 5 to 14 years to participate in ‘Reading Challenge’ competition from 25 May to 6 July 2023.

The competition encourages children to become more independent in their reading, boosting their confidence and self-esteem and helps them to maintain their reading skills and confidence.

There are two steps in this competition.

  • As a first step, you read at least 6 books from Wild World Heroes displayed at Children Corner in our library.
  • The second step is to draw a picture of your favourite character from the books or to write a review of your favourite book and win prizes. There will be a workshop on review writing for those who would like to write a review.

In August 2023, we will hold award giving ceremony for this competition.

Children who completed reading 6 books will be awarded certificates and medals at the award giving ceremony. Other interesting awards will be presented as well to winners from book review and drawing competition.

The registration fee to join the competition is MMK 15,000 for library members, and MMK 30,000 for non-library members.

Please note that registration is first come first served due to limited number of contestants.
