The finalists selected for Science and Sustainability Award 2024–25 are recognising alumni who have distinguished themselves through their career and achievements in the world of science and sustainability, and who can demonstrate the impact and scale of their achievements in their profession, and beyond.

Dr Khine Pwint Nwe: University of Leeds *Chevening

Dr. Khine Pwint Nwe, Founder & CEO of Z-waka, is a healthcare leader focused on improving access and education in low- and middle-income countries. A medical doctor from Myanmar, she holds a Master's in Health Informatics from the University of Leeds, UK, as a Chevening Scholar. Recognized in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia in 2022, Dr. Nwe has led impactful projects in Myanmar, Vietnam, and Cambodia, empowering healthcare professionals through digital solutions.

Dr Myo Thida: Kingston University

Myo, an assistant professor of Computer Science at Bard College at Simon’s Rock in the United States, earned her PhD in Computer Vision from Kingston University, UK. She is dedicated to promoting sustainability for society in the age of AI by fostering resilience, equity, and empowerment through research and technological training. She strives to ensure that communities, particularly those underserved, are equipped to survive, adapt, and thrive in an increasingly AI-driven world.
