The finalists selected for Social Action Award 2024–25 are who have made an exceptional contribution and commitment to creating positive social change and improving the lives of others.

The names in alphabetical order are:

Chan Aye: University of Durham *Chevening

Chan Aye is the Founder of Bright Institute, a social enterprise in Yangon, Myanmar, and Chairperson of Myanmar Chevening Alumni (MCA). As Lead Trainer/Academic Counsellor at Bright Institute, he is dedicated to shaping Myanmar youths into effective scholars and practitioners. His academic background includes ELT, diplomacy, and international relations. In 2015, he earned an MSc in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding from the University of Durham through the Chevening Scholarship.

Phyu Hninn Nyein: University of Oxford

Phyu Hninn Nyein is the Executive Director at Proximity Designs, focusing on data, technology, and entrepreneurship for rural development and sustainability. She joined in 2012 as a young analyst-turned-agriculturalist upon returning to Myanmar. After building the research and impact arm, she now leads core operations, transforming Proximity into a resilient, agile, and data-driven organisation.

Sai Htet Naung Lin: Manchester Metropolitan University

Sai Htet Naung Lin, Founder and Academic Head of RCT Education Group in Taunggyi, Myanmar, has become a distinguished educator with four master’s and three undergraduate degrees. He is enormously committed to the quality of academic excellence and lifelong learning. Through innovative management and teaching, internships, scholarships plus skill-building initiatives, he has led his school to prominence as a leader in education in a short time.
