Research Connect online training programme creates professional development opportunities for early career researchers (ECRs) and increase their international network between the UK and among East Asia countries – Myanmar, Malaysia, and Vietnam. 

About the Researcher Connect

Researcher Connect online training programme provides participants with the insights, understanding and tools to communicate effectively, whatever the situation or context. The course has been delivered across the globe and participant feedback has consistently shown that the workshop enhances researchers’ communication skills, knowledge, and ability.

Researcher Connect online is offered as a series of modules, delivered and facilitated through an online workshop format by experienced and quality-assured trainers. It is designed specifically for early career researchers, although certain aspects would also be of benefit to more experienced members of the research community. Participants joining the Researcher Connect online workshop can benefit from:

  • improved communication skills in academic research, namely academic collaboration, and enhanced the soft-skills in academic writing, proposals, digital researcher, effective emails, persuasive proposals and presenting with impact
  • strengthened the international research network community, research environment and knowledge exchange with peer researchers from Myanmar, Malaysia and Vietnam 
  • a high quality training programme delivered by experienced UK experts
  • an interactive format where participants are encouraged to apply learning to their own research area
  • take home resources for each module containing course theory, learning and activities
  • if participation meets the criteria then a certificate will be issued.

About the course

  • The course is delivered online, on Zoom platform, and in English. 
  • Trainers of the course are experienced researchers and research trainers from UK universities and organisations with a vast knowledge of academia and research
  • There will be three workshops running from 7th November till 15th December 2022. 
  • Each workshop will last for two consecutive weeks (Monday-Thursday) between 13:00-16:00 (MM time).
  • Each course will have a mix of 30 ECRs from Myanmar, Malaysia, and Vietnam. (10 from each). 

Participants’ eligibility

Participants joining the Researcher Connect should be:

  • early career researchers (ECRs)
  • confident English speakers (B2 level CEFR) in order to fully participate in the sessions
  • able to commit 80 - 100% time for the training
  • able to commit a follow-up action as a result of the training to showcase the impact of the training, e.g. research, research collaboration, knowledge sharing session, etc.
