The British Council library is commemorating World Photography Day (19 August, 2023) with a special event—a photography competition exclusively for its members. This competition centres around the theme "My city – Yangon and Mandalay", encouraging members to embark on a visual journey through the beautiful city. Participants are invited to capture compelling images that represent the essence and uniqueness of the city, showcasing its characteristic charm and spirit through the lens of photography.

Eligibility - The contest is open to all library members who are 18 years and over.
Submission: Members are to submit their entry between 11 and 25 August. Only 1 entry can be submitted per membership.
Submission guidelines:
- Only soft copy photograph will be accepted.
- Ensure the photograph has a high resolution.
- Save the photograph to Google Drive and provide the link, ensuring it's accessible to all.
- The photograph can be in colour(s), monochromatic, or black/white.
Evaluation – Entries will be judged on creativity, technique, and description of the photograph by the professional photographer.
Terms and conditions of the competition:
- The photograph must be in its original state and cannot be altered in any way, including but not limited to removing, adding, reversing, or distorting subjects within the frame or adding filters.
- The contest is open for soft copy submissions only.
- The photograph submitted by the participant shall be devoid of any copyrighted images.
- Entries will be judged by British Council. All decisions are final. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to stated contest rules.
- Submissions will not be accepted once the deadline lapses.
- The prize must be collected by the winner and is non-transferable.
- The winner will be contacted via the email address provided during entry.
