- Where we offer a course to be delivered in one of our teaching centres, we will endeavour to teach this face-to-face in the centre to the best of our ability. In the event of government policy or advice that requires us to temporarily or partially close our centres, we will continue to teach the course on which you are enrolled but may do so online. When you register for a course at one of our teaching centres, you acknowledge these terms and conditions. These do not change or affect the terms and conditions of payment, credit or refund that apply for the course.
- The British Council reserves the right to close classes in cases of low enrolment or other circumstances which make the opening a classes non-viable.
- In no circumstances the British Council is able to give cash refunds for the placement test and course fees. If a student cannot attend a course for medical, academic, employment related or compassionate reasons a credit transfer can be requested in writing on submission of evidence of a valid reason for withdrawing. (see a to d below). An administration fee of 50,000 MMK will be charged.
a) In serious illness, students need to produce an authorised medical certificate.
b) Transfer to a new location, which is not conducive for travel to the British Council or overseas training or a work commitment. Written evidence from the individual student’s employer will be required.
c) Change of academic timetable. A letter from the school/university/college will be necessary.
d) Compassionate reasons such as bereavement or serious illness of a family member. A copy of the death certificate or documentation from the hospital/doctor is required.
4. Terms:
a) Credit request made 5 days prior to the course start date: student will get 100% credit of course fee.
b) Credit request made within the 1st week of the term: student will get 50% credit of course fee.
c) No credit will be issued after the 1st week of term.
d) The duration of credit transfer will be valid only until the last day of the term the student enrolled in.
5. Approved credits will be valid for one Academic year.
6.The British Council reserves the right to change the fees, offers and terms and conditions at any time without prior notice to our existing customers.
7.No refund, make-up class or alternative compensation will be given for class cancelations due to circumstances beyond the control of the British Council. This includes but not limited to outbreak of riot, civil commotion, epidemic, natural disaster, unanticipated class disruption such as necessary building evacuation due to fire.
8.The British Council cannot accept payments made from banks (or other financial institutions) sanctioned by the UK or any other relevant jurisdiction. Where the British Council discovers evidence of payment from a sanctioned bank and/or sanctioned financial institution we will freeze all funds related to that payment and will be unable to deliver the service for which the payment was intended. Please therefore ensure that you do not make payments from an account in a sanctioned bank and/or sanctioned financial institution.
9.The British Council cannot make payments to banks (or other financial institutions) sanctioned by the UK or any other relevant jurisdiction. If you request a refund to be sent to an account at a sanctioned bank and/or sanctioned financial institution, you will be asked to nominat an alternative method of payment that does not breach sanctions. Failure to provide an alternative method of payment will result in non-payment of the relevant funds.
