The British Council Teaching Centre is recruiting for highly motivated, flexible and customer oriented EFL teachers to join our Teaching Centre team in Myanmar on an hourly paid basis.

As a teacher in the Myanmar Teaching Centre you will work as part of a close, dynamic and professional team in one of the most rapidly changing countries in the world.

The Yangon Teaching Centre has 8 classrooms housed within the British Embassy. We currently have 20 network and locally contracted teachers and a growing team of freelance teachers. We deliver approximately 17,000 class hours to an average of 1400 general English students per term (500 adults / 900 Young Learners). We also have a rapidly expanding Professional Development Unit delivering contract programmes with major private sector clients and not for profit organisations.

To be considered for these posts you must have:

  • a recognised EFL qualification to at least certificate (i.e. Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL) or preferably diploma level (i.e. Cambridge DELTA/Trinity DipTESOL);
  • at least two years of relevant teaching experience with a variety of levels and age groups, particularly with Young Learners (aged 7-17 years);
  • been educated to tertiary level.

Hourly paid teachers are contracted on a termly (10 week) basis and can expect to teach between 6 and 18 contact hours per week. Hourly paid teaching rates are currently USD27 (Cambridge DELTA/Trinity DipTESOL) and USD24 (Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL).

This is an excellent opportunity to begin your teaching career with the British Council and offers ongoing professional development and training as well as the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and professional British Council teaching centre.
