As the country opens up to international collaboration, the British Council in Myanmar is supporting the exchange and mobility of students, academics and policy makers both to and from the UK and Myanmar. We support collaboration and partnerships between UK universities and the Burmese government, international donors, universities and individuals.
We work closely with international donors and development agencies to strengthen international collaboration through high-level education policy dialogues, national conferences and workshops.
Our work in internationalising Higher Education includes:
Regional Cooperation: Through the EU-funded regional project SHARE, we support the harmonisation of higher education in ASEAN including Myanmar.
One of the DFID-funded programmes, Transformation by Innovation in Distance Education (TIDE) supports in strengthening innovation in Myanmar’s distance education system.
Global policy and education dialogues: Working with partners, we support government education reform programmes by providing opportunities for Burmese education leaders to participate in regional and global dialogues on critical issues affecting higher education with counterparts from around the world.
Knowledge Partnerships: We welcome leading UK educational institutions to Myanmar to initiate partnership opportunities with universities in Myanmar and to facilitate Burmese educators to visit the UK.
