As part of the Hidden Words, Hidden Worlds literature project, and to showcase the depth of literature across Myanmar, the British Council, with support from PEN International, PEN Myanmar, and the Myanmar Publishers and Booksellers Association held an historic two day symposium on the past present and future of ethnic nationality language literature on the 13th and 14th March 2015.

On the first day, chairmen and representative of the seven main ethnic culture and literature organisations in Myanmar met their counterparts in the Yangon literature community, to raise awareness of the organisations, their challenges and how they can support each other.

On the second day, at Yangon Gallery, over 20 poets, writers, publishers and academics from 16 ethnic nationality groups appeared on panel discussions sessions open to the public.

Display boards inside the gallery presented images and a history of the Hidden Words, Hidden Worlds project.  A book fair, organised by the Myanmar Publishers and Booksellers Association was held in the ground of the venue with over 15 stalls and a Live Reading tent featuring Myanmar short story writers.
