British Council Centre in Mandalay is a place if you want to improve your English, prepare for UK examinations or simply to find information about UK and the educational opportunities it offers.

The Mandalay Centre is open to all, members and non-members alike and you can have access to over 5,000 books, newspaper, journals, periodicals and live television news from BBC. 

Our Self Access Centre, with more than 500 titles of English language collection, exam preparation materials and contemporary UK fiction, will help you improve your English language skills, prepare for UK exams and support your studies whenever you want! 

Please also visit the new IELTS Corner - a place where students can practice for IELTS exam with over 50 titles of course books, exam practice books and other reference materials.

Membership options

We offer different membership categories to suit your learning and information requirements

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP

  • borrow 4 books/periodicals at a time for a period of 2 weeks
  • borrow 1 DVD for 2 weeks 
  • Use of the Internet
  • Free Wifi

Member fee: MMK 15,000 per year

FAMILY MEMBERSHIP

  • Borrow 10 books/periodicals at a time for a period of 2 weeks
  • Borrow 1 DVD for 2 weeks 
  • Up to 3 persons can use the library
  • Use of the Internet

Member fee: MMK 30,000 per year

How to become a Mandalay library member

Once you have decided what kind of membership option is best suited to you, to join our library all you need to do is:

  • Bring your National Registration Card or student identity card and two recent photographs
  • Fill out a membership form
  • Pay the appropriate membership fees

We only accept payment by card, bank transfer and mobile banking (AYA bank only) during library opening hours.

Saturday 9.00 A.M. to 4.30 P.M.
