Choose how to take your IELTS test and register online
You can book your IELTS test online in Myanmar with the British Council (and, where applicable, you can also book at one of our British Council offices). When you take your IELTS registration with us, you can be certain that you will be taking your test at an official IELTS test centre.
You can take your test at one of our official test centres on paper or on a computer. All you need is a valid identification document (NRC or Passport) and a bank card if you want to pay online. You can also take IELTS Online (IELTS Academic only) from the comfort of your home or any private space with a stable internet connection.

Payment for IELTS on Computer/on Paper(Academic,General Training,Life Skills, UKVI) Exams Fees can be made by bank transfer (AYA Bank) or AYA Pay or walk in payments by using bank cards at British Council Yangon (Kanna Street) Office.
*Payment for the IELTS Online Exam Fees MUST be made in USD using a valid debit/credit card, as the fees will be directly deducted by the regional IELTS team. The administrative processes will be handled by the regional IELTS team. Please note that these transactions are subject to the exchange rate and transaction fees imposed by your credit/debit card provider bank.
Requirements to book for the test:
- Make sure you have a form of valid ID (passport or national ID card) at hand. Please note that candidates under 18 years of age have to supply written consent by a parent or guardian in order to apply for a test place.
- Read our Information for Candidates, which contains important information about the test format, the question types and the test results. Please note that IELTS is not recommended for test takers under the age of 16.
- Pay for your test. Payment can be made by bank transfer (AYA Bank), AYA Pay and also accept walk-in payments by using bank cards at our British Council Yangon (Kanna Street) Office.
After completing your IELTS registration:
- You will receive a confirmation giving you the start time of your test and the venue address.
- Your Speaking test may be scheduled on the same day as the other sections, or on a different day within a 7 day window before or after your main test day. The test centre will send you a confirmation for the Speaking Test date.
- You will also receive an automatic email with your access codes to the free online course: IELTS Ready Premium
- You will also receive your IELTS Reference Number to access the Test Taker Portal. Please make sure that you have included your email address correctly when you make your IELTS booking.
