In response to the changing literary landscape, the relaxing of censorship and the opening up of restricted areas, the Hidden Words, Hidden Worlds project, from 2013 to 2014, spent a year collaborating with regional ethnic cultural organisations and Yangon based writers to deliver short story construction workshops to local community members in seven cities in six states across the country: Yangon, Hpa-an, Mawlamyine, Lashio, Myitkyina, Hakka and Loikaw. In each five day workshop, the participants discussed issues relevant to their community and how to embed these themes into short story narratives. At the end of each workshop, a special Live Literature night was held with readings, dancing and singing.
